The DHS band returned Monday night from their annual trip.

Each year, the DHS band takes a trip in the spring. The location rotates from Canada, Disneyland and San Diego. This year the Symphonic and Concert Band members headed to San Diego, where they did several performances, in addition to some fun.

On Thursday of last week, the members of both bands, which are called “Pep Band” when not performing in formal concerts, boarded buses to make the 10 hour trip south.

They performed in several locations, including Sea World, the USS Midway and twice at the Seaport Village. The band also participated in a music clinic at UC San Diego and played with the university’s pep band.

“The performances went really well,” sophomore Francisca Echiburu said. “All of the audiences were really nice.”

The trip was not all work, however. Band members were given time to enjoy Sea World and Seaport Village. The group also visited the San Diego Zoo.

On Sunday, the band spent their last in Southern California, in Hollywood. They returned to DHS later that evening.

“The trip was amazing,” Echiburu said. “It was so much fun.”

The bands have two upcoming performances in May:  the senior concert on May 7 and the Picnic and Pops in the Park on May 30.
