The Davis Senior High School women’s water polo program began its season on August 20, with a team meeting and a short but intense swim set. The team is looking forward to another season with head coach Douglas Wright.

This year Wright has welcomes DHS alumni and current UC Davis water polo player Ariel Feeny, who will take the place of assistant coach, previously Dokotah Mohr.

The girls spent all week conditioning in a time known to many DHS athletes as “Hell Week”

Wright filled the week with swim sprints, leg work, passing, and a conditioning drill known to the team only as “stinky’s”.

“Feel the pain, embrace the pain” said Wright to his players as they treaded water with both arms straight above their heads for 60 seconds.

The girls look forward to their team building retreat that will take place the weekend of August 24 to 26.
