For the Davis High lacrosse team, March 15 was a big day and a record-breaking night. Toppling over last year’s record, 817 fans poured into the Ron and Mary Brown stadium throughout the night to watch the Davis Devils triumph over the Jesuit High School marauders in an 8-6 victory.

The energy from both the players and their fans served as a constant source of energy during the game.

“I think the crowd definitely helped and energized us for the game.” DHS head coach Nick Juri said.

Junior Kian Reno is a midfielder or “middie” for the varsity squad. “I don’t think we played very well, but we got the job done,” Reno said. Part of this reason could be because the lacrosse season is in its beginning stages, “I think we haven’t really gotten into our rhythm as a team, we haven’t developed our bonds enough and were also fighting some injuries on the team.” Reno said.

In the 8-6 victory, Reno scored one goal along with his best friend and fellow middie Daniel Rowen, who also scored one goal.

Then comes the team of double scorers: middie Mikie Schlosser, and attacks Willie Hawkins and Mark Bruemmer supplied an additional two goals each to  finish off the night with a win.
