For a total of ten hours, over the course of Thursday, Aug 22 and Friday, Aug 23, veteran juniors and seniors underwent training on a mission to become Davis High School’s first batch of Link crew leaders.

“We practiced different ice-breaker, ‘get-to-know-you,’ and teamwork type games that we will play with the sophomores,” incoming junior and Link crew leader Claire Weibe said. The games were meant to help the sophomores feel more comfortable at DHS and achieve more at their new school.

The Link crew at DHS is comparable to WEB at the junior high schools. “I never got the chance to be a part of WEB,” incoming junior Cordelia Hsiao said, “I enjoyed the experience as a seventh grader and thought it’d be cool to help sophomores out with their first year at the high school.”

Spencer Elliot, Bill Williams, Cheryl Ozga and Vacaville High Link coordinator, John Alongi coached the kids through the games and explained how to keep a positive atmosphere on Tuesday.

The sophomore orientation will take place at DHS on Tuesday, Aug 27 from 8 am until noon.
