The Davis High Baroque Ensemble hosted a successful wine tasting fundraiser event at the Monticello Bistro on Sunday, January 19.

After school gets out this June, many look forward to their summer jobs or family vacations. However it’s a different story for students apart of the Baroque Ensemble, as they plan and raise funds for their exciting trip to Italy in late June.

Starting last summer vacation, the members of the Baroque Ensemble began raising money doing multiple car washes as well as holding a booth at the Farmer’s Market on Saturdays, explaining their purpose and goals needed to be achieved in order to make it to Italy.

The Baroque Ensemble partnered with the Monticello Bistro to hold a wine tasting event, which is very popular in music and arts circles. “We chose the Monticello restaurant because it seemed appropriate for wine and for Italy,” ensemble member, Ryan Bruch said.

“As far as financial success, we maxed out how much money we could have expected to make at this sort of event,” ensemble director, Angelo Moreno said.

“The atmosphere at the fund raising event was festive and celebratory. There were family, friends, community members and music appreciators, all there to enjoy the social scene, excellent food and wine paired with fine baroque music,” Moreno said.
