Student actor Luis Zarate-Sanchez criticizes his friend, Nick Simons, for being too forceful as Chris Farmer turns away in disgust. The characters every skit were nameless, as were the scenes they were in.

The Davis High Drama class celebrated a successful semester with a montage of 11 emotional scenes in this year’s first Drama Soiree.

The actors performed on Jan. 16 and the show was open to anyone and was free of charge.

The presentation itself was made up of 11 short independent scenes. Student actors created the settings, characters and relationships within each scene.

Each skit played out onstage was unique. Three friends reminisced about running away from home; dress shop employees cleaned up as best they could after a violent storm.

“It went really, really well. I was thrilled. The joy of this performance is that practices fall apart nothing goes as planned,” Drama Coordinator Gwyneth Bruch said.

Sophomore Chris Farmer, who starred in the last scene of the night, thought the Soiree went successfully.

“There was a lot of talking [backstage] but everyone was really excited,” Farmer said.

A second Drama Soiree, celebrating the entire year, will be held in May.
