Devils win second Delta Valley Conference of the year

Davis High’s Halden Field hosted six schools on April 23, for the second Delta Valley Conference meet of the year.

The Blue Devils dominated in the women’s and men’s varsity and JV divisions, winning the entire meet.
The men’s varsity team took first with 165 points to second-place Monterey Trail’s 109. The women’s varsity was 180-140, rising above Monterey Trail as well.

Sophomore Liz Salomon said that “the meet yesterday was really fun. I’m very proud of all of my teammates.”

The DHS women’s varsity team swept the first four spots of the 800-meter race, with sophomore Fiona O’Keefe taking first. O’Keefe later went 11:07.62 in the 3200-meter race for a first place finish.

In the jumps, freshman Alyssa Lengtat went second with a leap of 34-7.50, followed by senior Zoe Hunt-Murray taking sixth with a 33-3.0 jump. For the high jump, junior Caitlin Mazzoleni won first place with a 5-2.0 jump.

For the men’s varsity team, junior Nate Harper placed first in the pole vault with a 14-6.0 vault, two feet more than the second place finisher.

In the long jump, junior Adam Buderi went 18-5.0 to score second for the varsity men.

Abby McIntyre taking fourth in same event in 27.32 seconds.

The team will have the Blue and White Intrasquad meet next Wednesday, April 31. The next DVC meet will be the championships at Elk Grove High School on May 7.
