Davis High’s women’s tennis team scrimmaged McClatchy on Oct. 20 in its home court with a score of 8-1.
Number one for Davis, senior Cat Paw U, defeated her McClatchy opponent 6-1, 6-0 in the number one singles match. Paw U was pleased with her performance. “The first time I played [Lok] I wasn’t playing her very well and it was really close and really long. This time I was a lot more excited and it was a lot better of a match,” she said.
Coach Sally Hosley was also pleased with her team’s performance. “We already played [McClatchy] earlier this season and beat them but this time the girls have stepped it up quite a bit. We won with a bigger margin and we’re having a little bit more success,” Hosley said.
The team already has the number one seed in the Delta League locked down and they will be continuing into Section playoffs in November.
“I think we have a good chance of winning Sections,” sophomore Rebeca Engelhard said. “The team this year works really well together and we’ll get far.”
