The last home football game of this year was played on Oct. 24, and honored seniors from the football, dance and cheer teams.

Seniors from each of the teams were escorted across the field by friends and family and announced to recognize their dedication and participation to their activity through the years.

Although Davis High barely lost the game to Pleasant Grove in double overtime with a score of 21-24, the team still remembers the many bittersweet ups and downs they have had throughout the years together.

Senior Nate Ortiz has been a part of the Blue Devil Football Program for six years, and will always fondly remember his time playing football at DHS.

“It’s been a lot of fun out here,” Ortiz said. “I love hanging out with the guys.”

Although this was a disappointing loss for the team, Ortiz remembers that they still have the chance to win more away games this season.

“We’ll hopefully get some more wins coming up soon,” Ortiz said.

One of Ortiz’s favorite memories in his entire football playing career was beating Sheldon High School at an away game this season.

“We got to ruin their homecoming after ours didn’t go the way we wanted it to,” Ortiz said. “It’s always fun to win on the road.”

Senior night was also a special time for the dance team to be recognized. For senior and dance team member Noriko Smallwood, the game was sad although still exciting.

“I’m gonna miss the Friday night lights,” Smallwood said. “My time on the team has been amazing. I love the adrenaline when we perform.”

This isn’t quite the end yet, however. Smallwood still looks forward to performing at basketball games with the dance team this winter.
