This week, sophomore, junior and senior classes are working on their floats for the Homecoming parade on Friday, Oct. 9. The parade will start at 1:30 p.m. at Central Park and will end at Davis High.

To help design the sophomore class float, Sophomore Senators held a meeting on Sept. 15 to get ideas from students. Volunteers have been working on it this whole week.

“I’m very excited to get this float done and in the parade, and I feel like it’s going to be one of the best sophomore floats ever,” Sophomore Senator Ethan Tran said.

For sophomore Marina Medeiros, who recently moved from Brazil to Davis, Homecoming is an entirely new tradition.

“I want to see how this works because we don’t have Homecoming, so it’s different for me so I’m trying to go to everything that happens in this school,” Mederios said.

“It was very easy to be a part in the float-making process since, unlike the junior and senior floats, we were able to build it on the DHS campus,” sophomore Helena Leal said.

Ace Hardware also helped out by donating money, and the Sortor and Defty families helped build and provide key pieces for the float.
