Winter Ball is fast approaching, but if you still don’t have a date, don’t fret!

If you are going to ask someone close to the date of the dance, know that they might already have a date or a plan for their night. You may want to make sure that the person you are asking doesn’t already have a date, just to avoid an awkward situation.

As far as the actual promposal, the same tips apply for asking them last minute and asking them further in advance.

Be creative. Try to think of something specific to the person you are asking, and try do something that hasn’t been done before. Puns are also funny and memorable but make sure that the person is going to understand your joke and think that it’s funny as well.

If you are really stumped, or just struggling to think of something entertaining, just search up “promposal” on Pinterest and you’re off to the races.

Make sure they are comfortable. The last thing a very reserved person wants is attention on themselves, so take that into consideration when deciding how to prompose. If the person you are asking is shy, consider asking them when there aren’t too many people around.

You can always buy them a Jamba Juice and write “Wiball?” on it. Anything simple should work for a last minute promposal, since it might be hard to successfully pull off a more complex promposal as the dance gets closer.

That being said, if the person loves being the center of attention, it might make them happy to have something more extravagant and involving others.

Don’t overthink it, especially if you are doing something under the wire. You can’t really go wrong simply asking someone to go with you, as long as you do it in person.

Unless you are best friends, please don’t just send them a Snapchat inviting them. They will know how little time and effort that took.

You want to be organized, but it’s not the end of the world if something doesn’t go as planned–relax. People will rarely reject you, and it’s just one night. If you aren’t in a relationship, the person you are asking should be someone you can have fun with and be comfortable dancing with.

If all else fails, going with a group of friends is a good alternative to having a date–there’re bound to be other people there without one, and you will still have fun.

Also, don’t feel like you have to be with a date the whole time, especially if you are going as friends. You’ll be able to hang out with other people and still have a good time, so don’t sweat it. It’ll be like one big party.
