The rehearsal on Tuesday was a continuation of a tradition that has spanned four years. Clyde Quick, the director of the band programs at DaVinci, Emerson, and Holmes feels that the tradition is important to his students’ musical development.

“I don’t think you can value it highly enough. It allows ninth graders to see what’s coming next, to get excited […] and take that back to their own band,” Quick said.

Many ninth graders are enthusiastic about being able to participate in a high school event. Damian Murillo, a clarinetist at Holmes, was very excited, especially since it was his first homecoming.

“It sounds great like everyone’s having a fun time,” Murillo said.
