The DHS Men’s Varsity Soccer team seems to be getting more confident and motivated as the season goes on and sections near. The Devils beat Laguna Creek in an effortless game 6-0, maintaining possession, passing the ball well and keeping it on the ground.

The game that occurred on Tuesday of this week gave the Devils a record of 7-0 in the DVC and 13-1-4 overall. Captain Ryan Gross, Senior scored within 16 minutes of the start of the game and added two more to gain a hat trick. Jacob Weiss, Senior, got all three assists to Gross and added one goal himself. Collin Holtz, Junior, and Ben Slavich, Senior, each added one goal as well.

Laguna Creek struggled to keep the ball out of their backfield and the lack of passing accuracy and ball protection led to constant turnovers. Davis moved the ball quickly and created openings throughout the entire game, they were playing in perfect rhythm, communicating with one another and creating scoring situations one after another. This Davis team should do wonders in sections, and members have high hopes for what is in store just around the corner.

“We’ve gotten a lot better since the beginning and hopefully we continue to get better” Said Gross speaking about the performance of their team. The Varsity squad is aggressive yet agile while playing and their ability to finish shows on the scoreboard.

“Heading into sections I think Jesuit is going to be our biggest challenge, but I am excited to beat them” Said Weiss. The Devils Varsity Soccer team believes they are ready for any challenge and are gathering momentum going into the post season. The question is will this team be able to keep up this level of soccer all the way to the section championships?
