Senior Adam Raabe places his purple honor cord around his neck, his black suit emblazoned with a vibrant red flower. For Raabe and the dozens of other senior band students, it will be the last formal concert these soon-to-be graduates will play with the Davis High bands.

The DHS bands hosted their annual Senior Concert on Tuesday, May 7 at 7:30 p.m. at the Richard Brunelle Theater. The concert recognized the 47 graduating seniors of the band program.

The performance included four pieces featuring the DHS Symphonic Band. Following the performance, band director Tom Slabaugh honored the seniors by announcing their future plans and playing a slideshow of the seniors’ pictures.

As the band members of the DHS Class of 2013 propel into their futures, they will miss many aspects of being a part of the band program.

“[I will miss] playing some awesome music and getting to know some awesome people,” Raabe said. Raabe will be attending the University of Arizona this coming fall.

The DHS bands will host their final Picnic and Pops concert featuring all the bands on May 29 at Central Park.
