Ah yes – summer break – the time most students have been waiting for since the November is now here. Any passerby could tell the school year was over with the shrills of excited students yelling “woo! Schools out!” or “we’re done!” at the top of their lungs.

The last day of school ended officially at 12:20 on June 6, while graduating seniors still needed to attend practices at 8:30 Friday morning. With seniors saying goodbye to the school, underclassmen now get to go through the same experiences as the soon-to-be-graduates previously did.

The rising sophomores have to worry about volunteering, finding jobs and the like while juniors are doing much of the same and beginning their college applications. The seniors now get to just relax and get prepared for the upcoming college life. Senior Ross Kelly is excited for the times to come, but feels bittersweet about high school coming to a close.

“It hasn’t really sunk in, but I’m pretty happy […] we’ve all made friends through school, some that we’ve known for the entire time. I think friendships will be the largest thing I’ll miss,” Kelly said.

No matter what path the graduate students are taking next year, whether it is finding a job, going on to higher education or traveling, they get to spend at least one last time together at the graduation ceremony at 7:30 Friday evening.
