The Red Union Blue played at the Sundstrom Hill Winery on Sept. 7 as a celebration for the release of their new album “Learning to Fall”.

The band of five, including school district superintendent Winfred Roberson and Davis High history teacher and chair of social studies Chris Lee, entertained the crowd with rock/country-pop/folk music. The audience, consisting mainly of adults, were enjoying themselves and tasting wine.

Lee plays guitar, keyboard and sings with the Red Union Blue for more than a year. Lee also wrote all the songs in the new album with vocalists Trena Thompson.

“We play in the Sacramento, Davis and Roseville areas,” Lee said.

The band came together in October 2012. Lee, Roberson and Rich Desideri, husband of Vice Principal Stacy Desideri, were all friends and expanded their band with Thompson and drummer Nick Kantar. Thompson and Kantar were both found through the internet.

The audience was growing and many friends and family of the band attended. Stacy Desideri supported her husband and Bree Thompson, Trena’s cousin, came to listen along with her friend Rita Brott. Bree has been to a few shows and enjoys the band’s music.

“I never really had a bad time at [the Red Union Blue] shows,” Bree said.

This was Brott’s first time at the Red Union Blue shows and she found it interesting.

“[It’s a] nice relaxing Saturday; wine and music,” Brott said.

The question is…is this the same Rich Desideri that played in Roadwork with me (moved2italy@yahoo.com), Scott Keogh and Tony Verdier? Please let me know Rich!
