Even with head coach Sally Hosley absent due to medical reasons, the women’s varsity tennis team dominated against the Monterey Trail Mustangs on Oct. 10, winning its matches 9-0.

Standing in for Hosley was Brett Stone, who was impressed with the girls’ work ethic and sportsmanship.

“You never see anything but respect on this team. I’d like to take credit for that, but they’ve been taught that by Coach Hosley,” Stone said.

Besides the team’s noteworthy manners on the courts, they also shut out the Mustangs within an hour of beginning the matches.

“Because our team has good sportsmanship, it helps our games to be really decent, in terms of modesty and especially playing,” junior Kailynn Yang said.

Junior and co-captain Megan Ewens agreed, saying that “We’ve been doing really well, it’s a fairly young team, but it’s a lot closer than last year. It’s a good team”.

About Hosley’s absence, Ewens added, “She’ll be back soon, which is good, cause we miss her!”
