Varsity women’s basketball takes second place in first tournament

In the final game of the women’s varsity basketball tournament on Dec. 7, Davis threw out a great effort and came in second place against Cardonelet with an ending score of 32-78.

The game started with the first quarter, which ended with the scoreboard reading 12-23. In the second quarter Cardonelet continued to pull forward, ending the second quarter 24-46. Davis had six fouls and Cardonelet had five.

As halftime came and finished, the third quarter came around. During this period sophomore Anna Belenis made a notable ball interception and passed to sophomore Rachael Allison for a Davis basket.

By the end of the third quarter Davis was down 32-65, fighting back from numerous scores from standout Cardonelet players. Davis had five fouls and Cardonelet had five.

The fourth and final quarter rolled along and the game got a little more heated.

Cardonelet got three fouls for holding, pushing and hitting. Davis also got eight fouls for walking, pushing and holding.

Despite Davis’ hard work, Cardonelet continued to score and won the game by 43 points.
