With the end of the year approaching, so too approaches the end of lockers, which entails ridding them of old math assignments, rotting tuna sandwiches and stanky tissues.

Any lockers that weren’t cleared during today’s locker cleaning will be later cleaned by custodians.

Even though many students try to leave their lockers spick and span, some may accidentally leave behind a thing or two.

Substitute custodian James Harris was told a tale by a fellow worker about a treasure found while cleaning out a locker one year.

“One guy found over $800 when emptying a locker, must’ve been crazy” Harris said.

While fortunes can be found in lockers, so can sneaky garbage that has been hiding in the back corner of your locker since February.

Junior Claudia Shebloski has used her locker constantly all year, and for all sorts of purposes. She has kept it nice and tidy, but today during the clean out she had some icky little surprises.

“It was kinda gross, there were some old lunch bags and tissues and papers in the back,” Shebloski said.

Old papers and tissues are just the first level of dirtiness, as Shebloski added, “Mine wasn’t bad, but I saw one of my locker neighbors take out a moldy bag of vegetables or something. There were juices and everything. It was gross.”
