Over the past few years, new workout classes like Zumba and hot yoga have started to trend among many young people. Booty barre, a class that incorporates elements of pilates, yoga and ballet, has made a comeback. The main goal of this class is to include both cardio and strength training in a fun, exciting one hour class. I decided to attend this class for the first time at Balance Point Pilates downtown, and all I can say is that I’m thinking about including booty barre into my Saturday morning routine.

I left the studio feeling energetic, refreshed and ready to start my day. The instructor is extremely friendly and her good mood didn’t fail to rub off on me.

Celebrities like Taylor Swift and Rooney Mara have been reported attending the popular barre class and it may as well be the answer to achieving their envy worthy athletic figures. These celebrities are slender, of course, but they also seem to possess long, lean muscles.

According to Emma Seibold, founder of the barre studio Barre Body, barre is the perfect low impact workout that will tone all the muscles that don’t get targeted in a normal workout class.

“It takes the best bits of ballet and Pilates- core and strengthening work from Pilates and toning and elongating exercises from Ballet at the barre- and fuses them with flowing yoga for flexibility and fluidity. It’s a complete workout that tones and lengthens your entire body,” Seibold said.

Overall, barre is a great class that gives you energy and positive vibes and puts you in a great mood to start the day and I definitely recommend you try it out as soon as you have a free morning.
