The Davis High JV men’s golf team defeated Christian Brothers 203-257 on Mar. 9 in their opening match of the season.

The DHS team was led by senior Quinn Foster who came up with a 38. Other significant golfers were junior Daniel Shuman and sophomore Nathan Koh, who scored 43.

The team played nine holes at the Davis Muni golf course, and the warm, windless weather made for an ideal day to hit the green.

“We played well. It’s as simple as that,” Shuman said. Shuman’s low score of 39 helped DHS triumph over Christian Brothers, whose average score was 51.

The Davis Muni golf course holds a par of 33, which Shuman hopes to break in the future.

“I would love to hit par, but I’m still in JV so I won’t be unrealistic. I am hoping to improve greatly, and since the season just began this was a great start,” he said.

The team will next play Rio Americano on March 11, and then the feared Jesuit team on March 16 at the Wildhorse golf course.

“Jesuit looks to be one of the stronger teams we will play, but I’m confident in our team to take them down,” Shuman said.
