At Davis High’s third swim meet of the season, held on Wednesday, March 16, all four divisions defeated Sheldon: 122-17 men’s JV, 99-49 men’s varsity, 135-17 women’s JV and 139-26 women’s varsity.

All relay teams won, and many DHS swimmers placed first individually in their events, including sophomores RuiQian Sun, Ben West, Tait Strandsaard and Sammie Needham; juniors Steven Csaposs and Sydnee Christian; and seniors Owen Yancher and Lanna Koslowski.

However, because of Sheldon’s small size, many Devil swimmers were racing only against their own teammates in some events.

Women’s head coach Nicki Moureaux was confident going into this meet.

“Sheldon’s unfortunately a smaller team, so we have strength in numbers,” Moureaux said.

Tired from tough practices the past few weeks, senior Koslowski still felt strong entering the meet. Koslowski says she enjoys the team environment at school meets.

“I like meeting new people and seeing them at school after meets, when before I didn’t even know them,” Koslowski said.

Moureaux is new to the team, and so far is having a great time getting to know all of the swimmers.

“It’s a good mesh; they seem to get along well, they’re fun to be around, and that’s what I think is important,” Moureaux said.
