Homecoming is just around the corner, and with it comes many exciting events and fun activities for students to participate in. This year’s theme is Haunted Homecoming, and students can expect a fun, spook-filled week.

To kick the action-packed the week off, student government will be hosting a rally this Monday.

“There will be games to bring energy and spirit to the crowd to get people hyped for this week of events,” said sophomore Sophie Purves, a member of student government. Students can also expect performances from the cheer team and the Madrigals.

In addition, every day of Homecoming week will have a different theme for students to dress up for.

Monday is America Monday, where students are encouraged to wear their most patriotic clothing.

Tuesday’s theme is Evil Twin Day. Students should find one or more friends, and dress up wearing the same outfit. During lunch, dodgeball will take place in the gym, where twins can battle it out to see who reigns supreme.

Wednesday is Walking Dead Day. To prepare for this spirit day, go to class wearing your favorite pair of pajamas.

“Just roll out of bed and come to school. There’s no need to make yourself look pretty,” said sophomore Coryappa Kodira, a member of student government.

Students should make sure to stop by the quad or parking lot on Wednesday morning and grab a Noah’s bagel before making their way to class.

On Thursday, the theme is Wacky Thursday. Show off your fashion sense, or lack thereof, by wearing as much mismatched clothing as possible. The crazier you look the better.

The final theme for the week is Freakishly Blue Friday. Wear as much blue as possible, and if you want, go the extra mile and paint your skin blue to show off your Blue Devil Pride.

This Friday school will get out at 1 p.m. and the Homecoming parade will begin in Central Park. Each grade will have their own float, as well as some of the sports teams.

After the parade, the DHS football teams will be taking on Franklin for the Homecoming game. Junior varsity will play at 5 p.m. while varsity will play at 7:15 p.m.

Finally, the Homecoming dance will end the week with a bang, taking place on Saturday in the South Gym from 9 to 11:30 p.m.
