Sports practices moved, canceled due to poor air quality

Smoke from the devastating wildfires in the Sonoma County area was clearly visible from Davis on Monday evening. Two days later, poor air quality forced Davis High Athletic Department to cancel or move every outdoor sports practice.

The Davis High Athletic Department released an Air Quality Update that cancelled or moved every outdoor sports practice for today. The Davis air quality index has reached an unhealthy level of 177, according to AirNow.gov. The following list details these changes:

Wednesday Oct. 11th – AQI 177 – Unhealthy
Varsity Girls Golf — Cancelled
Freshman Football — North Gym 4:30pm
JV Football — Dance Room 5:30pm
Varsity Football — North Gym 5:30pm
JV Field Hockey — Cancelled
Varsity Field Hockey — Film – Coach Sandie will communicate film time and location
XC — Cancelled
Girls and Boys Water Polo — Cancelled
JV Girls Tennis @ River City — Cancelled
Varsity Girls Tennis — Cancelled
Volleyball — Home vs. St. Francis
Boys Basketball — Cancelled
Girls Basketball — Cancelled

Practice changes for the rest of the week are yet to be determined.
