Seniors who are planning on partaking in post-graduation festivities may want to consider purchasing their Davis High Graduation Night tickets soon. Starting Feb. 1, the ticket price will raise from $75 to $85.

The price will jump again on May 31. From then on, the tickets will cost $100 and will be sold at the door on June 8, the night of the event. Tickets are available on the Grad Night website, www.davisgradnight.org. Those with financial needs are welcome to contact their school counselor for other possibilities.

Grad Night has been a Davis tradition since 1985, when the community decided to address the problematic pattern of alcohol-related car crashes that occurred the night of graduation. Currently, the event takes place each year at Emerson Junior High with a specially-decorated theme.

“Grad Night is a community volunteer effort,” Grad Night Co-Chair Tricia Bosco said, “with hundreds of volunteers from all over Davis working together on a project that saves the lives of our graduating seniors by providing a fun, safe and sober event.”

Every year, about 90 percent of DHS seniors attend the night, which begins at 9:30 Friday evening and ends at 5 Saturday morning. Students can expect outstanding decorations, raffle prizes, dancing and plenty of food all night long.

“Last year’s grads were still on the dance floor at 5 am,” Bosco said.

In addition to purchasing a ticket, seniors can start sending in their kindergarten school photos for the kindergarten wall. They can email a headshot of themselves around kindergarten age to Jenifer Perkins at first2go@mac.com.

“Graduation is such an exciting time and you won’t want the fun to end,” Bosco said. “It’s one last night to be together with everyone. Our goal is to have every senior in Davis attend this memorable night!”
