The Davis High men’s JV soccer team defeated rival Jesuit with a 2 – 1 win on Feb. 1.

Within the first few minutes of the game the Marauders scored off a penalty, but that did not let the Devil’s lose hope as they held possession of the ball for a great portion of the first half of the game.

“Jesuit is always a good competition against Davis,” sophomore Cavan Schraner said.

The rough conditions led to difficult play as the ball skidded due to the rain. This did not stop the Devils from pulling through with a win as sophomore Walsh Klineberg scored two goals within the first half.

For the first goal, sophomore Nikita Stukanov kicked the ball into the 18-yard box and Klineberg tapped it in. On the second goal, Klineberg headed the ball over the keeper.

Jesuit picked up the pace in the second half as the players aggressively strived to score before the end.

LISTEN to head coach Fouzi Elmojahid’s response to the match:

“We only take dubs here,” sophomore Keane Deas said.
