Boba, a bubble tea that many students at Davis High enjoy, was created in Taiwan in the 1980’s. The drink is made with tea, milk and sugar. It’s often topped with chewy tapioca balls, popping boba and types of jelly or puddings.

Davis has 14 boba shops, not including the restaurants that also serve it. With so many places in town to buy boba Davis High students have succumbed to the trend.

“I like boba because it’s really refreshing on a hot day and it’s filling too. It’s better than just drinking a drink,” senior Molly Leach said. “They also have lots of different flavors, so usually everyone can find something that they like.”

The HUB polled 40 Davis High students to share what places are their favorites and why. Here are the top five:

T4U: 132 E St, Suite 190, Open 11:30 a.m. to 11 p.m.

Rated number one by students, this popular chain had its grand opening in Davis in April 2017. With a large menu to choose from, the variety attracts many Davis High students. A fun atmosphere and friendly staff add to the appeal of this easily accessible downtown store.

Mandro: 1260 Lake Blvd, Open 12:30 p.m. to 12 a.m.
