On Sept. 12, the Davis High women’s varsity volleyball team took the win against Franklin High School, ending with a final score of 3-0.

The Devils started the night with a lead by spike within the first minute by junior Emma Thompson, subsequently followed by another score.

“Everybody that got a chance to play tonight did a really good job at taking advantage of the opportunity and having some really good moments,” head coach Julie Crawford said.

Thompson, in her second year on the women’s varsity volleyball team, was a top scorer for the Lady Blue Devils throughout the night.

Davis maintained strong defense throughout the game, as they worked together to return the ball. However in the third match, the Wildcats began to scratch back. Tensions grew as the scores tightened.

After a final team huddle, the Devils ended the game with their first league win. Following their loss against Saint Francis High School on Sept. 10, the win improved their overall record to 7-4.

“I’m just really proud of my team,” Thompson said. “We really worked collectively together and we did good.”

The team plays their next game on Sept. 24 against Pleasant Grove at DHS.
