Agriculture teacher Alexander Hess is grateful for the community support that has made this project a reality.

The wait is almost over for Davis High teachers and students who have been eagerly anticipating the start of monumental renovations to the career technical education buildings. Construction is expected to begin on Apr. 1.

Teachers are overjoyed for the opportunities it will bring for future students.

“It is going to allow us to have more equipment and more students being able to be active and engaged at one time,” autoshop teacher Robert Thayer said.

Thayer is also looking forward to the new weather coverings that will surround the current buildings, “because we often have to spill out into the parking lot in terms of our projects and assignments,” Thayer said.

Although there will not be entirely new structures, agricultural science classes can expect to see a new greenhouse with new lighting and flooring, as well as new drainage systems and accessibility improvements to the barn.

“You’re gonna be able to go to any corner on campus and see something new,” agriculture teacher Alexander Hess said.

While teachers have some mild concerns surrounding the potential increase in construction cost and anticipated timeline, the level of gratitude and excitement continues to rise amongst the staff.

“It’s really happening and up until this point it was one small step we were getting there and then now it’s like we almost see the finish line,” Hess said.
