Back for their sixth finals in the last eight years, the Golden State Warriors will be facing the red hot Boston Celtics who have made the NBA Finals for the first time since 2010. Currently, both champions of their respective conferences are not so different from each other. Each franchise has seen the lowest of the low and faced adversity like no other.

Just two years ago the Warriors weren’t even invited to the NBA Bubble in Orlando due to the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020 and had one of the longest offseasons in league history. The following year they reached an NBA play-in spot and needed to win in order to take the last seed in the West which unfortunately ended in a loss to the Ja Morant-led Memphis Grizzlies. Two years without the Warriors in the playoffs and fresh off of Klay Thompson’s ACL recovery and they’re back in the NBA Finals.

From one coast to the other, the Celtics were, at one point, the 11th seeded team in the Eastern Conference, out of playoff contention, losing games against mediocre teams. Most of the media, and the basketball world had given up on this team. Incredibly, with a subtle shift in the energy, Boston climbed back from the depths to take the second seed in the East and take home-court advantage against their first two matchups in the playoffs, proving pivotal in their road to the Finals.

Both teams play both sides with electrifying offenses and defenses and have some of the most exciting young and experienced players in the league from the Splash Brothers, Steph Curry, Klay Thompson and the “J’s”: Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum. This matchup is great for the basketball world and will give fans some of the best NBA Finals basketball in a while.
