Davis High’s Winter Ball takes place on Feb. 3rd and is open to all students.

Junior Class President, Sahda Bhinder, is in charge of the dance. Bhinder and the rest of the Wiball committee came together in November.

“Right after homecoming, we got into committees and started getting the permits in place and contacting our vendors, like our photo booth, fencing, lighting vendors, and the DJ,” Bhinder said.

Closer to the dance’s arrival, the committee began to advertise and sell tickets to the student body.

“My favorite part about planning was that it wasn’t rushed. We had a lot of time to set our ideas and do different things,” Bhinder said. “I am really happy that we were given the time that we needed to make this event a success.”

As a sophomore last year, Bhinder did not go to Wiball, but this year her plans have changed. “I am really excited to actually attend Wiball this year,” Bhinder said. “I am just excited to see people enjoy it because we have already sold more tickets than last year.”

Along with Bhinder, Junior Class Vice President, Mako Barrios also had a key role in planning the dance.

“My favorite parts in planning this dance have been whenever we finish something, just because there are lots of things that need to be done in order for a dance to happen, so it’s very satisfying to check off any boxes that progress us towards having the dance,” Barrios said.

Although the planning can be complex, Barrios looks forward to the music aspect of the night.

“I would say that the most exciting part for me has been working with the DJ who we had at last year’s prom, and we’ve heard really great things about,” Barrios said.

Barrios encourages students to attend and hopes to see as many students as possible at the dance. “This dance does act like a Junior ball to DHS so I wish that any Juniors that want to go are able to go and enjoy themselves,” he said.

Although there have been ticket complications in the past, this dance is open to all grades now.

“We aren’t always able to meet the demand for tickets to our Homecoming dance due to capacity, so I’m really hoping that any students who weren’t able to attend Homecoming have the opportunity to attend Wiball since it’s shaping up to be a super fun event,” Barrios said.
