In its last dual meet before the postseason, the Davis High men’s wrestling team beat Sheldon 39-36 during Senior Night on Tuesday, Feb. 2.

Prior to the first match, coach Ty Brown honored the four seniors—Quinn Davies, Robbie Hughes, David Flores and Conner Layman—with certificates and flowers.

With four years of wrestling under his belt, Hughes felt the significance of his last dual meet at DHS.

The meet helped to seed the team in the postseason bracket. However, captain Davies says the team seeding is not that important because wrestling is more of an individual sport.

Assistant coach Rodney Earnest is excited for the postseason. “

“I’m looking forward to seeing how our ninth and 10th graders do against these players who’ve been wrestling for five or six years,” he said.
