While the homecoming game is already biggest football game of the year, this year it is especially big, as the Davis High team will be playing the school’s rival, Jesuit.

Generally, the team plays a team it has a good chance of winning against for homecoming, but this year, because of scheduling, they decided to play Jesuit.

So far, the team has only won one game and lost three.

What is the team’s strategy?

“Focusing up and healing up,” senior Cosmo Kasapligil said.

While a formidable opponent, the Jesuit varsity football team is far from perfect.

“Jesuit likes to run the ball and isn’t strong at throwing,” Kasapligil said.

Meanwhile, that the game is a homecoming game gives Davis a big advantage. The homecoming football game is one of the most attended football games of the year, and according to Kasapligil “it feels better because you have people in the stands you know.”

Brown agrees that having a game at home helps a lot.

“Whatever team controls the line of scrimmage is going to have a good night,” Brown said.

Ultimately, though, Brown thinks that the final score isn’t as important as how hard the players try, and how much they improve.

“You’re never playing against another team, you’re always playing against yourself,” Brown said.
