Senior Night has been a long held tradition for every Davis High varsity sport as a way to honor the dedication and commitment contributed by senior athletes throughout their time at DHS. Alongside friends and family, the athletes receive gifts from younger teammates, kind words from their coaches and standing ovations from the crowd.

Seniors were hard to come by for this year’s men’s volleyball team, but the three who participated were big contributors to the team’s success. Connor Beck, Marcus Blewett and Christian Merola all played a pivotal role this season.

Beck and Blewett lead the team in total blocks and were third and fourth in kills per set.

“They’ve brought a lot of energy on to the court and a lot of power in the front row,”  junior Mick Dunning said. “They kept the team up whenever we were down, and have given a lot of good advice about school and volleyball. Especially Marcus as he has played all four years of high school.”

Although the team suffered a narrow 3-2 loss, Senior Night was still special for the departing athletes.

The women’s lacrosse team won 20-3 over Bella Vista on its Senior Night, where athletes Grace Scheuring, Peyton Schoen, Colette Quaas, Alicia Holman-Evans, Devon Morris, Reagan Cusi, Stella Cardenas and Semmer Ali were celebrated by their teammates and family. Gift baskets and hugs were awarded to every athlete.

“I’m really gonna miss my teammates. Especially those I’ve grown up with … I always feel like they have my back,” Ali said.
