Davis High varsity football rose to a 38-13 victory in Thursday’s home game against the Oakmont Vikings. Big plays on the defensive end and a strong running game helped them cruise to the win.

The teams both scored touchdowns in the first quarter but Oakmont failed to convert on the extra point. Davis went into the second quarter up 7-6. The Devils strengthened the lead with another touchdown to go up 14-6 at the half.

From there the Devil scored three more touchdowns and a field goal in the second half.

Junior Daimyun Luevano anchored the Blue Devil defense with two interceptions in the first half. Due to a calf cramp he had to sit out the second half, but he was still able to add to the electric team atmosphere.

“I was hype, I felt confident in my team and myself after our first win. I did good, definitely with two interceptions. I’m looking forward to our team coming together and continuing winning as a unit,” Luevano said.

The players hope that this game will help give them momentum for a strong rest of the season.

“We had an amazing game on the line and this game has actually given us a lot of confidence going into this next week knowing we can score and make plays on defense,” quarterback Braulio Acevedo said. “It was an amazing bounce back game from last week.”
