Family dinner tables crammed with delicious homemade food: turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes and grandma’s famous mac and cheese.

There are so many aspects of Thanksgiving to look forward to. Seeing family, giving thanks, eating together, political debates at the dinner table, it’s all part of the Thanksgiving experience.

For many, the most important and looked forward to part of this holiday is the food. Whether it’s homemade, store bought or catered, the diversity of thanksgiving food makes sure there’s something for everyone. Even if it’s just the rolls.

An extremely popular answer when asked the question, “What’s your favorite Thanksgiving food?” is mac and cheese.

“It’s technically not a Thanksgiving food, but it’s still the best.”Davis High Junior Mailee Curtis  said.“It’s a comfort food, and Thanksgiving should be comforting,” Curtis said.

The most popular Thanksgiving foods in America include turkey, stuffing, green bean casserole and mashed potatoes and gravy. Curtis said she would give that all up to only eat mac and cheese.

“You can never go wrong with mac and cheese,” Curtis said.

Another crucial part of a Thanksgiving meal is the dessert.

Junior Isabella Cherry said the food she looks forward to eating the most on Thanksgiving is apple pie.

“My older siblings aren’t home often, but they always come home for Thanksgiving,” said Cherry. “Apple pie just reminds me of fall and I always bake it with my siblings when they come home.”

Not only does apple pie taste amazing, but the memories surrounding making it with your family are the most cherished by Cherry.

“Baking it is like a family event,” Cherry said.

The core memories you make around cooking and eating with your family and friends are far more valuable than the food itself.
