Justin Bieber has not yet commented on the #cutforbieber craze. This hashtag eruption is one of he many times that Bieber fans have been deceived by false claims. Previously, fans who thought Bieber had cancer shaved their heads in symbolism, the cancer claims (like the call for cutting) were later revealed as acts of mean pranks.

You’ve been caught smoking marijuana. Under fairly normal circumstances
you might get grounded or deal with some police. If you’re Justin Bieber, you face the
repercussion of a #cutforbieber hashtag explosion all over Twitter.
Explanation? After pictures were released of Bieber smoking weed, a group
of fake Bieber fans initiated a disturbing online campaign, leading hashtags like
#cutforbieber and pictures of slashed wrists to circulate the immense world of Twitter.
The idea was to lead a fake protest against the pop-star’s poor life choice, but
even for the most dedicated “Beliebers,” the #cutforbieber hastags and pictures cut too
far.
Senior Katrina Cole has been a devout Bieber fan since he released his debut song
“One Time” in 2009. Cole first heard about #cutforbieber on the radio, and thinks “it’s
really stupid and disrespectful,” Cole said.
Suleikha Sutter, a sophomore at DHS, agrees with Cole: “I personally find it
ridiculous and way to extreme,” Sutter said.
Bieber has yet to respond to the ocean of worrying hashtags. In the mean time,
celebrities like Miley Cyrus have stepped up and encouraged fans not to cut themselves
for Bieber.
Other Twitter users have followed Cyrus in suit. One such user, Brittany Kyle,
tweeted “I won’t judge you for cutting if you have a legitimate reason, such as depression,
but if you #cutforbieber I hope you hit a vein.”
