In the first home game of the season versus Franklin on Monday, March 18, Davis High School won 9-0.

Due to no. 1 senior Glenn Hull’s injury, Andrew Dumit played no. 1 and won two straight sets, 6-3, 6-3. “I was happy because I was playing better than I had been recently and won my match in two sets,” Dumit said.

According to Dumit, the team’s success comes from their conditioning coach, senior Isaac Zhang, a player on the men’s varsity team as well. “Our strength really lies in our conditioning,” Dumit said.

“He pushes us to the limit so we can play better in our matches,” Dumit said.

Sean Maroney was also impressed with the team’s performance. “Today was solid.” Maroney thought that the team played well but could still improve.

“Some guys could work on their overheads.”

Senior Isaac Yee called it close with a 15-13 win in the third set tiebreaker. Yee was a standout in Monday’s match.

DHS plays on Tuesday March 19 against Deer Valley in Antioch and then again in Davis against Pioneer.
