Davis High’s Quiz Bowl team is ranked 22nd in the nation and competes in both regional and national tournaments.

“Quiz Bowl is basically a club where you answer trivia questions that start out hard and get easier and easier, and eventually to common knowledge,” sophomore James Snell explained.

The team practices Wednesday at lunch, and members of the A Team–seniors Anthony DiCarlo, Teddy Knox and Henry Zhang, junior Eliot Williams and sophomore Ethan Skinner–which finished 24th in the country last year, work constantly to increase their knowledge.

The A Team continued its streak of strong performances with an 11-1 win at the California Cup 3 Tournament, a regional championship on Feb. 20 at UC Berkeley. DHS also won the four-tournament California Cup Series Saturday, March 5 with a 12-0 shellacking of the competition. The win gave the Devils a 355-350 victory over Homestead in the overall series.

Williams is confident about the team’s chances this year.
