Reviewing the best fun spaces in Davis

PHOTO: Strolling through Davis it may be hard to find things to do, but some Davis High students have found a few solid places to have fun.

UC Davis Armadillo Records

Rating: 9/10

Armadillo Music is a great place to buy vinyls, CDs and tapes locally. The record store, located in the heart of downtown Davis has customer comfort in mind. Music lovers can browse a vast selection of different genres, bands and artists while listening to employees’ record picks played over the speakers.

The store is broken into multiple sections, with new vinyls, older records, CDs, cassette tapes, music posters, DVDs and discounted records all at home in their own various nooks and corners.

“What I like about Armadillo is that they have a huge selection and the fact that everyone there is so nice,” senior Daniel Tejeda said.

However, Armadillo Music is not only centered around the merchandise, it also often holds concerts for its patrons and features an area where customers can play or try out vinyls before purchasing.

Pro tip: on the right hand side when walking in to the store, there is a record bin of staff picks to find fresh finds.

The Artery

Rating: 6/10

While the Davis Artery is wonderful for browsing, the cost of the pieces makes actual purchases challenging for highschoolers, the cost of the pieces makes actual purchases challenging for highschoolers.

UC Davis

Rating: 8/10

Even though UC Davis is a college and home too many students, it is still very welcoming to visit no matter who you are. UCD has nature, different types of agriculture and even a duck pond. It also has a lot of paths and trails for pedestrians.

It even has a bowling alley and an arcade. If you want to come here with your friends it is a perfect place.

Additionally, the campus is incredibly bike-accessible and a wonderful place to exercise surrounded by wonderful scenery.

Pro tip: Avoid the ducks because they will chase you if you prompt them.

Regal Davis Holiday

Rating: 9.5/10

Regal Davis Holiday is a well known movie theater in downtown Davis. If you want to hangout with your friends and see any new movies, this is the spot.

It is a bit smaller than Regal Cinema down the block but it redeems itself with a large parking lot.

Perks of movie watching at Regal Holiday include affordable tickets and a wide variety of available films.

Pro tip: Sit towards the top center of the audience for the best movie view.

The Farmer’s Market

Rating: 7/10

The Farmer’s Market is open from 4:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Wednesdays and 8 p.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturdays. It is located in Central Park in the heart of downtown Davis.

The marrket, which has been active in Davis for decades, brings all kinds of regional farmers and vendors together, with market stands ranging from apples to crocheted clothes to fresh coffee.

The market is not only a great source from produce and other goods, but also brings the whole Davis community together. While some market goods are on the expesive side, everyone can find joy in the environment of the market.

Pro tip: Bring a blanket and go at the beginning or end to avoid the crowd.
