Cheering hard at the away game against Cosumnes Oaks, our Varsity sideline Cheer squad was there rooting on our football team.

Before their away games, the team loves to jam out to their “hype music” on the car ride there. Junior Aine Walsh likes going to away games because the team can just have fun with each other.

Filming TikTok’s on their account @davis.cheer the team gets ready for kickoff, always finding ways to pump everyone up.

Since the crowd is smaller at away games, it is “really just an opportunity to practice what we’re gonna do at home games,” Walsh said.

Showing up at every football game the cheer team is able to build community and friendships.

Junior Bella Dolcini says the team “feels like a little family,” by having each other’s backs and improving together.

“In past years there’s been a divide between upperclassmen and underclassmen,” Walsh said, but for this season it is not the case.

With Homecoming and Senior Night quickly approaching, Varsity coach Tamera Reed is glad “we have a lot of new people this year that are learning really fast and are really enthusiastic.”

Last year the Varsity competition cheer team was the champions of the 2023 JAMZ Nationals, winning every competition along the way.

Despite having a lot to live up to, Reed has “very high hopes it’s gonna be great,” because they are putting in many hours of hard work.

“I feel like we are ready,” Dolcini said. With their first competition only seven weeks away the cheer team is ready to take on the rest of the season together.
