The women’s tennis team are section champions following an undefeated season and will be entering NorCal regionals Friday. The team consists of eight seniors, making up over half of the squad.

“(Most of us) have been playing together for three or four years so we all know each other really well,” senior Cloe Lamoureux said.

This allows for a greater depth of skill on the team due to the numerous years spent training together. “It’s like our number 12 can beat our number one on any day,” Lamoureux said.

Though the amount of soon-to-be graduated seniors on the team may be a cause for worry for next season, sophomore Molly Nansen is choosing to not stress and enjoy the current season.

“I’ve had so much fun on the team,” Nansen said. “Just being out here with the girls, we have a blast.”

Even though the team has fun, they do feel the pressure to remain undefeated, according to Lamoureux.

“I think it’s really fun to be able to say that we’re undefeated, and I’m confident that we can stay undefeated,” Lamoureux said.

Nansen plays doubles with her partner senior Alena Voss. Nansen remembers times where it looked unlikely that the pair would pull off a win, but they have learned to work well together and were able to claim victory.

Nansen and Voss value communication in their partnership. “Even though it’s not a team sport I feel like we’re very teamy,” Voss said.
