The 2023-24 Link Crew will be hosting a school dance on Friday Dec 8 from 7-10 pm. With tickets costing $10 for non-ASB holders and $5 for ASB card holders, the dance is titled the “Dazzling December Dance” and will be held in the Davis High North Gym.

Earlier this year, it was planned that Stud Gov would host this dance, but due to scheduling, it was decided that Link Crew would take over the planning process instead.

“Our Link Crew class, about 14 people, came up with this activity,” junior Link Crew leader Trevor Mills said.

The dance itself was held for the first time last year, but was for sophomores only. This year, however, the Link Crew decided to open it up for all grade levels.

“Since there is a big space between hoco and wi-ball (winter ball), we wanted something (a dance) in the mid period,” Link Crew advisor Tatum Rice said.

Unlike hoco or the winter ball, this dance will be informal and without a specific theme or dress code.

“There is no dress code for this dance. Just come and have fun! It’ll be very casual,” Rice said.

With the same venue as the homecoming dance, the ticket cap is set at 700 total tickets.

Since the formal dances are catered more towards the upperclassmen, many, if not most sophomores are unable to participate in any of the school dances during their first year of high school.

For this reason, DHS parents appealed their concerns to the school. Due to the lack of space, events and opportunities, sophomores are given priority to tickets for this dance, but with no specific cap for each class for the tickets.

“The parents requested that we have more dances,” Rice said. “We’re trying to change things around, so that students feel

However, Link Crew and Rice hope to give more opportunities for sophomores and new students in all grades to participate in school community-bonding events.

“We’re trying to change things around, so that students feel more welcome!” Rice said.

And that’s the Link Crew mission, to welcome any and every student to the school.

“I’m really excited for this (dance), it will be really fun!” Mills said.
