While two new consoles are being developed, excited gamers are waiting with suspense to find out what these consoles will offer to modern gaming.

Sony’s consoles, the PS4, came out on Nov. 15, and Microsoft’s Xbox One, is being released Nov. 22. These two consoles has been a tremendous topic among gamers around the world.

The PS4 and Xbox One will both have a 500GB hard drive, but neither is external. Also, both consoles have remote downloading and players will be able to download while playing. These similarities aside, they are both very different.

First off, the PS4 has 8GB of GDDR5 RAM(random access memory).

“This means the CPU(core processing unit) and GPU (graphics processing unit) can work together more efficiently to produce better graphics.” Alvaro Garibay, a passionate gamer, said.

In addition, the PS4 will be much easier to code games for then the Xbox One, which is a plus for PC gamers. It will have a memory bandwidth (a measure of the amount of data that can be moved in a given amount of time) of 176GB per second, while the memory bandwidth for the Xbox One will be 68.3GB per second, according to IGN, a gaming news website.

The PS4 will also be able to support four controllers, and not require gamers to purchase anything in order to play online, but PS+ is available, which offers exclusive content and/or early access to content (cost: $4.15/month, $50/year). Lastly, the PS4 will not have mandatory game installs, and it will come with a Blue-Ray drive.

The Xbox One will have 8GB of DDR3 RAM, which means it will be slower than the PS4 and require gamers to buy Xbox Live to play online and to use a majority of apps on the Xbox at a cost of $5 a month, $60 a year. The system will also be able to support eight controllers. The Xbox One will also have mandatory game installs and will act as a universal remote.

Both consoles seemed to improved notably from the previous consoles, the Xbox 360 and PS3, but it seems that Sony is predominating over Microsoft in popularity with their consoles.

“I think they [Microsoft] are more into the financial gain than they are the actual gaming itself,” Brandon Brooks said.

In a poll IGN took called “IGN versus”, gamers were asked what console they thought was better overall. There were a total of 84,649 votes, and only 21,307 votes were for the Xbox One. That means a total of 63,342 people voted the PS4 as the superior console. On another news website called Reuters, results from a survey showed that 41 percent of people under 40 will buy the PS4, while 27 percent will be buying the Xbox One.

According to Sony, the PS4 will be sold for $399.99, and the Xbox one will be sold for $499.99, according to Microsoft. Although the console war has not ended, Sony seems to have an advantage in this battle.

Actually the PS4 does require a PlayStation plus membership to play online. Its the ps3 that doesn’t require it.
