There’s one day of the year where the senior class gets the opportunity to skip school and have a day to themselves. This day is known as Senior Friendship Day.

A Friendship Day is an event on some Fridays where a selected group of individuals leave school to participate in friendship bonding activities, meet new people and make new friends. Senior Friendship Day shares the same fundamentals.

During Senior Friendship Day, the seniors take part in team-bonding activities to expand their friendships before they all go on their separate paths. In addition to seniors, next year’s Friendship Day Facilitators also attend the event to learn about Friendship Day.

One thing that sets Senior Friendship Day apart from a normal Friendship Day is the importance of it. There is only one Senior Friendship Day per year, whereas there are multiple regular Friendship Days.

Kevin Williams, the Friendship Day Advisor, believes in the importance of Senior Friendship Day. “It’s important because it’s an opportunity when seniors can look at themselves as a class, as a society, and strengthen their connections before they all move on in life,” Williams said.

Some seniors thoroughly enjoyed Senior Friendship Day. Ani Ramakrishnan thought that despite the high temperature, it was quite an enjoyable experience.

“There was a lot of fun activities and personally, I had fun meeting fellow seniors that I’ve never met before,” Ramakrishnan said.

However, not all seniors enjoyed the day. Joseph Wang thought Senior Friendship Day did have its highlights, but overall was not a good experience.

“There was just too many people, you got their name and then they just disappear next second,” Wang said. Wang was also not fond of the activities and was disappointed by the lack of the food.
