The Davis High men’s soccer team has seen many historic events throughout their season.

The team has beaten Jesuit for the first time in eight years and have now made it to the semi-final of the section for the first time in 34 years with a huge 1-0 win in the section quarter-final over Oak Ridge High School on Feb. 15.

The lone goal of the night was from Simon Vaca-Lorenzi with a header from an assist by Zach Anderson. “Before I crossed it, I told myself I was getting to this ball and putting it away” Vaca-Lorenzi said. “Was a wonderful ball by Zach that just needed to be put away.”

The defensive players held their ground throughout the second half allowing zero shots at goal.

“You know offense wins games, but defense wins championships,” coach Alex Park said.

Losing their starting center back, Evan Stafford, the Blue Devils needed to fill his spot, but with a very deep bench, they were able to find the players necessary for his replacement.
